Volvo Cars smallest SUV continues the tradition

Following the XC90 and XC60, the Volvo XC40 is the third SUV to come along. It's the smallest SUV created by Volvo but should not be overlooked.

"The XC40 is our first entry in the small SUV segment, broadening the appeal of the Volvo brand and moving it in a new direction," said Håkan Samuelsson, president, and chief executive. "It represents a fresh, creative and distinctive new member of the Volvo line-up."

The XC40 has a bold exterior with many different body colors. With the color-contrasting roof, there are 17 color combinations to choose from. The wheels are large and give the XC40 an 8 foot, 3-inch ride height which makes it feel more like a traditional SUV.

Production on the XC40 begins this month and will start with a T5 four-cylinder Drive E-powertrain with all-wheel drive. A hybrid and all-electric option will be added at a later time.
